ABB ACS180 Product Range

The ABB ACS180 is a compact and reliable variable speed drive (VSD / VFD) designed specifically for machinery and general industrial motor control applications. Ideal for OEMs, machine builders, panel builders, and end users, the ACS180 delivers efficient and cost-effective motor control for pumps, fans, conveyors, mixers, and a wide range of industrial machinery.

Available in both 230V single-phase and 400V three-phase supply options, the ABB ACS180 range supports motor powers from 0.25kW to 22kW. With both V/F (scalar) control and sensorless vector control as standard, the drive provides dependable performance for both simple applications and more demanding variable speed control requirements.

Designed for fast installation and easy commissioning, the ACS180 includes built-in Modbus RTU communication, integrated EMC filters, Safe Torque Off (STO), and pre-configured application macros to simplify setup and reduce engineering time. Its compact footprint makes it particularly suitable for space-saving control panel installations and OEM machinery designs.

ACS 180 Keypad Overview:

The ACS180 has a fixed keypad for local operation and programming. Alternative keypads are available which are suitable for panel door mounting and parameter storage.

ACS180 Control Terminals Details and Default Wiring diagram:

External I/O, pushbuttons or potentiometer can be wired directly into the ACS180 control terminals for remote control. For the most common applications pre-programmed macros are available making commissioning quick and easy.

When remote control is selected the ACS180 is preprogrammed to operate using a start/stop contact and analogue speed reference as indicated below. The function of theses inputs is already set up but can be changed easily if required.

ACS180 Communications:

No Option Slot is available on the ACS180 but Modbus RTU is available. 1 x RJ45 Plug is available which can be used as either Modbus RTU or for an external Keypad.

ACS180 Installation Guidelines:

The ACS180 is an IP20 unit and must be mounted in a suitable enclosure with adequate ventliation. All PCBs are coated for protection against harsh environments however any dust must be non-conducting.

 

ACS180 Options and Accessories:

The ACS180 is available in a single format. No option slot is available for expansion or additional communications but various Keypads are available for panel mounting if required. For ABB products will more functionality please view our ABB landing page.

ACS180 Manual Downloads:

ABB provide a Hardware manual and Firmware manual for the ACS180. The Hardware manual gives all the installation details and basic operation whilst the firmware manual lists all the parameters available in the unit.
