WEG CFW500 Product Overview

The WEG CFW500 IP20 AC inverter drive range is available from 0.18kW to 110kW in 230V single-phase and 400V three-phase versions. This modular VFD platform offers V/F and sensorless vector control, flexible control module options, optional STO, and a wide choice of accessories for industrial motor control applications.

WEG CFW500 Ratings and Output Current: 0.18kW to 15kW

Details below are for 2 different voltage ratings 230V Single phase mains supply (220-240Vac) or 400V Three phase mains supply (380-480Vac). Please ensure you select the WEG CFW500 to match your Voltage supply as well as the Voltage and Current rating of your three phase motor. Please note that 0.75kW, 1.5kW and 2.2kW are available in 2 frame sizes ( A or B) depending on whether dynamic braking is required.

WEG CFW500 Ratings: 18.5kW to 110kW

At 30kW and above the CFW500 is dual rated; 1 unit, 2 ratings depending on the overload required for your application. 18.5kW and 22kW is not dual rated therefore the rating is the same at the different overloads.

WEG CFW500 Dimensions: 18.5kW to 110kW

Frame sizes F and G are fitted with internal DC Reactors which are included in the dimensions below. Frame sizes F and G can also be through-panel mounted, ie the heatsink can be positioned behind the panel backplate for separate ventilation purposes. This is useful in harsh environments when the CFW500 electronic components require high levels of protection without compromising heatsink cooling.

WEG CFW500 Keypad Functionality

The CFW500 Keypad has a Single Line LCD display with helpful indicators and local control keys. A separate Keypad for door mounting is available if required

WEG CFW500 Control Terminal details and default wiring diagram

The CFW500 has a wide range of different control modules with varying I/O and communications. In this section we have chosen the WEG IOS module to demonstrate the functionality of the product. The IOS module is also the unit that we offer when supplying the CFW500 as a complete AC Inverter (AC Power Module and I/O Module). It is worth noting that the CFW500 can be operated from the Keypad only, if a Control Module is not fitted.

The CFW500 can be easily switched between local and remote control using the Keypad. When in remote control the standard IOS module can be wired as follows for the most basic speed control. We would always recommend that the Easy Start Guide is used to set the key parameters within the CFW500 to ensure correct operation before use.

CFW500 Installation Guidelines

The units mentioned on this page are IP20 therefore they must be mounted in a suitable enclosure with adequate ventilation. Any dust must be non-conducting otherwise this will damage the unit. Up to 15kW the CFW500 is also available in a IP66 format should a higher IP rating be required. Details of the CFW500 IP66 are also available. For units rated 30kW and above (Frame Size F and G) through-panel mounting can be done. In this instance the cooling for the heatsink and the control circuits are separate. No additional mountings are required for through-panel mounting (flange mounting).
